Dulay last 28 July 2016, to express its support to the Bureau and to hear directly from the Commissioner, his policy direction and program priorities. Joining PIP’s Executive Director Teddy Reyes, were the members of PIP Tax Committee from its 6 member companies – Chevron, Isla LPG, Petron, PTT Phils, Shell and Total.
The Commissioner welcomed the PIP and appreciated the gesture even noting that the group can visit his office anytime. He shared the BIR’s current priorities on revenue generation and on-going review of past and present issuances taking heed to the call of President Rody Duterte for change and to serve the interest of the people. Atty. Gaudencio Mendoza (Chief of Staff on Legal) and Atty. Teresita Angeles (HREA for Large Taxpayers Service) were also present during the meeting.
The PIP took this opportunity to share its views and opinion on tax issues affecting the oil downstream sector and to express strong support to curb fuel smuggling through the VAT audit trail system. Furthermore, the association of 6 major oil companies extended its appreciation for the very productive meeting and commended the review of the previous and currently issued BIR issuances with the end view of streamlining requirements and procedures.
Lastly, the PIP and its Tax Committee extended its profound thanks and appreciation to Commissioner Dulay and senior BIR officials for the time given to them despite their hectic schedule and for a very fruitful dialogue. PIP expressed its continued support and intent to be invited in future public consultations relating to BIR issuances, regulations and circulars.
