Industry Emergency Response (IERO) meeting conducted by PIP
TRUE to its commitment to help the government and cluster response agencies, PIP and DOE convened a meeting last 12 May 2016, to discuss provisions on the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) as a continuous initiative in the development of a framework that would ensure fuel supply continuity in the event of a major disaster. The MOA was entered into by the PIP member companies (Chevron Philippines Inc., Petron Corporation, Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation (PSPC), Isla Gas, PTT Philippines Corporation, and Total (Philippines) Corporation) in 2014 with the various government agencies such as the Department of Energy (DOE), National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) including the relevant agencies under the Disaster Response Cluster, and Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC).
The meeting was facilitated by OIC-Asst. Director Melot Obillo (DOE-OIMB) and attended by representatives from Office of the Civil Defense, DILG, BFP, DOH, PNP, AFP, DPWH, MMDA, DSWD and PIP member companies. Executive Director Teddy Reyes reiterated PIP’s commitment to provide the necessary fuel requirement of the responding government agencies within the terms provided in the agreement. Availability of fuel supply is one of the critical factors for the effective and efficient emergency response. Final refinements to the agreement, however, need to be addressed to ensure no stones are left unturned in the fuel supply implementation activities.
